Rifton “Riff” Elegy

Rifton “Riff” Elegy is an Ex-Mystic of an Unknown City. He currently resides in Asabor and is known for his volunteer work and support of upcoming musicians. He is also an Ambassador for the Mystics of TwelveCourts.

Biography

Very precious little is known about Elegy’s life prior to his stay in Asabor, and questioning him about it tends to result in an irate, incomprehensible tirade often referencing names and places that have proven impossible to identify in recent or distant history. He claims to be unable to remember his even further distant past prior to his summoning.

What has been gleaned about Elegy is that he is well traveled, claiming: “I’ve been from one end of Metrianda to the other and back again more times than I can count.”, a claim that is substantiated by various eyewitness accounts from regions across the map.

He has also been confirmed as a Mystic by the acting TwelveCourts Representatives, however his seat in the Court is defunct for reasons that have not been disclosed to the public. He acts as an Ambassador for the currently seated Mystics.

Elegy was present during scattered parts of Asabor’s construction and would visit frequently, leading to his eventual residency following The Great Reset of 9419. He has since been an active participant in the community with constant volunteer work and community service. Despite highly positive public opinion and outspoken support by well known figures in the community, Elegy has never run for office.

Elegy has been outspoken about his desire for Asabor to be a self-sufficient, thriving city. He has also expressed a desire to more smoothly integrate citizens improperly summoned beneath Robasa into Asabor, and has been openly critical of Robasa’s handling of such citizens.

Personality, Personal Life and Public Image

Elegy is infamous for his crude and abrasive manner, making him a difficult figure to approach. He is also known for his aversion to touch, typically keeping a space of several feet between himself and anyone around him. This distance does not hinder his ability to communicate, as Elegy is equipped with deafening vocal ability capable of shattering glass according to various eyewitness reports. He is multi-talented musically, and exhibited proficiency with a wide range of instruments. Though his appearance implies a personal connection to the ‘Punk-Rock’ genre, Elegy has performed with bands spanning many genres and has never claimed any one type of music to be his preference. He has been known to say that “Anything is music to somebody.”

Elegy has claimed to be highly synesthetic, describing his hearing as “All of [his] senses in one”.

Fans of Elegy’s work describe his performances as ‘captivating’, and the few that have witnessed his seldom solo performances have reported feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

Elegy has operated as a stand-in member for an array of bands in Asabor, though he has never claimed to be an official member for any known band to this day. Despite being unwilling to officially join any one group, Elegy has collaborated multiple times with both amateur and well-established bands. One of his most long-standing, public friendships is Floo Edit of the band Correlation, though the relationship was rocky at first.

Those who have worked with him confirmed his abrasive and intense manner, and he’s been described as coming off as ‘a bit of a bully’. Despite this, most previous collaborators have praised his commitment and talent, with some claiming that Elegy was “surprisingly encouraging”. He has shown particular interest in, and support of, upcoming and unknown artists. In contrast, Elegy is viciously outspoken against those with affiliations to the Tenebris Empire and The Sun.

Rumors have circulated in the past few years regarding his potential involvement with the Asaboran Mafia. Though Elegy has neither confirmed nor denied this, of the Mafia he has stated, “They were summoned here, they have a right to be here.”
