Matan Royal Family

Functioning like a typical kingdom, The Matan Kingdom of Metrianda has a royal family at its head- though ultimately it seems the goal of Meter Matan was to transition from a monarchy ruled by one family to a more democratically elected government. It never got to this point.

Meter Matan was the king for the entire run of the kingdom. Married to Ladella Matan he had 13 children- Finnigan, Sherrienna, Halberin, Aracelia, Galavan, Malachi, Brennan, Raphael, Tatiana, Victoria, Ximena, Yvette, and July Matan. It’s rumored that the queen was pregnant with their 14th, but she was executed before these rumors could be confirmed or denied. The crown princess was Sherrienna Matan. She and her twin Finnigan were the eldest of the children at the equivalent human age of 15, and were set to inherit the throne when they got older. Both children were being given a strict education by Meter and his supporters with the hopes of raising them to be empathetic but strong rulers who valued all life, not just their own or those in the kingdom they ruled.

Meter Matan was a pacifist despite his violent bloodline, and heartily believed that summoned people could live alongside those born in an elseworld- and especially that Founder families (his specific classification) could come in to open Gates without disturbing the residents of the Elseworld. His core belief was that ultimately people mattered more than land, no matter their lifespan.

This bloodline is considered to be fully ended as all Matans under Meter are deceased- save for Finnigan, who appears to be the current mayor of Robasa-- though he does not seem to have any confirmed children and is approaching the end of his life.

Zooming out, there are cousins and distant relatives of Meter’s bloodline who could be claimants to the long-gone throne, though are unlikely to step forward. Meter Matan is the son of the Matan Emperor Lucian, who had called for his capture and execution eons ago. Lucian does appear to still be alive, as are seemingly all of Meter’s 31 other siblings, though the empire is millions of miles away and unlikely to have an immediate effect on Metrianda. The only claimant who could is Meter’s eldest brother, the crown prince of the Matan Empire- Lazarus, captain of the VoidShip The Gallant- who was last seen in Cenian, Metrianda’s sister-world several thousand miles from the outermost edge of The Elseworld. His condition, and his ships, are unknown-- but he is supposedly still alive as well, and also seemingly unaware of the death of his brother. Information on the other children and grandchildren of Lucian is hard to come by and harder to authenticate, but one can presume there are many and, unlike Meter’s children, they are huge.

Meter Matan and his bloodline are large exceptions to the general genetics of Founders- while the fluffy ears and fluffy tails seem to be consistent, most Founders are the size of giants and hold tremendous magical capabilities. Meter’s children are remarkably short, the tallest of his family appeared to be Meter himself at 5 '5”. While his wife Ladella stood at 5' 8”, most children never got taller than 4 '6”. Meter’s bloodline also typically has only 2 of the general magically inherited Matan traits - an innate shapeshifting ability and an organ that produces a well of self-replenishing magic that the Matans can use - these traits however appear to diminish with each born child, as the youngest Matan children did not have either of these.
