Important People

Kian Shigar

Currently the Mayess of Metrianda and an ex-hero of Robasa. Kian Shigar is a statue-like figure, and a monolithic representation of The Republic and its values. While very stoic and difficult to read she is resoundingly understood as a kind-hearted and generous figure- contrasted only by an intense predilection for vengeance. She’s patient to an extreme degree- something that has proven to be an incredible boon during her time in Metrianda. Recently written history shows that she has served as the Mayess of Metrianda for 500 years, since the fall of The Council of Dragons, and has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. Summoned to Robasa as the Citrine hero under the third Iteration of The Council of Dragons on 2/39/9138 alongside Maldreth Matriad, Whima Terria, and several other notable figures; Kian and her group served the Council reluctantly. While following their orders she and Matraid were reported to have consistently undercut the Council, typically in regards to their treatment of The Underglass and, in particular, the remains of the Nevergreen Kingdom- who had survived the initial onslaught of the Tenebris Coup (being intense supporters of the overthrown Matan Kingdom) and subsequent conquering. She, him, and two other individuals- Whima Terria and Scarlett Bravo Rivero, were the longest living Robasan heroes of that time period- and currently the only surviving members of their particular summoning group with the exception of Whima, who is reported to be deceased but, frankly, you find that her picture looks oddly very similar to that of ambassador Floo Edit’s, ha.

During this time, Kian and her group along with then Robasian hero-assistant Finnigan Leagallow had formed an underground association dedicated to overthrowing the Council of Dragons. While working secretly behind the scenes the unnamed group garnered a lot of support from individuals within The Council and associations actively and loudly acting against them. Purportedly, this group slowly gained prominent members, ranging from other heroes of other cities to active council members- including Metallic Council member Victory the Gold, ex-member and council founder Yevie Tenebris Purpumtum, and his daughter, the active head of the council, Bravophae Tenebris Purpumtum. When the acting Mayess of Metrianda died this group decided that it would be appropriate for her and Matriad to enter the running once election time came around, which they did. Both candidates were wildly popular, Kian in particular being favored in polling quite consistently, though Matriad inevitably dropped out when he entered the running for Captain of the newly built Moon and after the execution of his daughter, Levone Merrit, by The Council. As election day approached, Kian and several other key members of her group and the wider political scene were invited to a banquet held by the other leading candidate- Underglassian hero of Eaile (Whima), Abigail Daisy- in the Underglassian city The Old Capital. While the banquet was intended to be a good-will gathering between the two popular candidates, it quickly turned bloody after another anti-council group headed by Matriad and his future wife, Pareidolia Di’or, hijacked the event and assassinated nearly every attendee. According to recent reports, Kian was one of the assassinated individuals, alongside Abigail Daisy, her assistant Dr Mayor Oxi Gyn, and every member of the Metallic Council of Dragons. The two were seen above glass, on Ealie, shortly following the event- acting as if nothing had happened. Again, according to recent reports, Di’or, known necromancer, had been manipulating their bodies in order to provide a grand enough distraction to cover her and Matriad’s eventual storming of The Perch and assassination of The Chromatic Council of Dragons- leading to their fall.

Thanks to the efforts of Finnigan Leagallow, and reportedly that of Matriad who was allegedly a victim of the same necromantic magic at the time, Kian Shigar was removed from The Perch before her body could be destroyed. Given a year to recover, and following The Great Reset (a sudden mass death that killed over a trillion people in The Overglass), Kian Shigar and Finnigan Leagallow appeared again above the glass- actively fighting alongside anti-Di’or and Matriad groups, leading a grand revolution against the hopeful Monarchy. After a year of fighting, Kian’s revolution overtook Di’ors forces, driving them back from Agora all the way to The Perch/Ealie, where Kian’s Republic, under one big victory, demolished the forces of The Sun and The Moon and forced them both into hiding. The Sun was not seen again for 500 years, subsequently leaving the grand global consciousness, and the most fighting that was seen during this time were small skirmishes with The Moon- who was considered to be the sole aggressor. Kian and Finnigan successfully established The Republic of Metrianda with the survivors they had gathered from The Underglass. Within the decade The Republic had full control over all 13 Overglass cities and permanently cut off their own access to The Underglass in order to allow the remaining Underglassian factions time to recover from The Council’s control and to prevent The Sun and The Moon from undercutting The Republic in places they could not defend- this practice was partly successful.

Kian, since then, has been The Mayess of Metrianda, and the primary governing leader operating in The Council’s stead. She is well liked, though often keeps to herself in Whima’s central tower following the intense fighting she had been a part of and allows her elected governmental leaders to run things in her stead. Kian relies heavily on the people around her to make proper governing decisions and would be hard-pressed to make them on her own, which lends to her image as a fair and balanced leader. On a personal scale, Kian is the mother of two important figures in Metriandan history; Kora Shigar an old Knight of Robasa who was summoned centuries before her and who had helped overthrow the Matan Kingdom and establish the Council of Dragons, and Gaiya Shigar, Quartermaster of The Moon. She is also the mother-in-law of Agoran mayor Airri Dahi-Shigar, wife to Gaiya.

While The Moon- and by extension Maldreth Matriad- have been absolved of most of their crimes and involvement with The Sun, Kian and Matriad have yet to rekindle their close friendship. The two are still consistently at odds and Kian has been heard claiming it might be better for Metrianda if, quote, “the bastard sticks by his wife”.

In other reported histories, as with the other people you have researched, her life can either be eerily similar or dramatically different. Sometimes Kian takes the place of Pareidolia or Maldreth, is a whole other species, dies on The Perch, is a monarch or draconic council-member, overthrows the Matan Kingdom, or a whole host of other situations, but almost always she maintains a close relationship with Matriad for quite some time that typically lasts the remainder of their lives. Which is not that different from the earliest recorded history of Kian that you can find. In these documents she’s listed as an ex-Knight of Robasa under Meter Matan, the Citrine knight specifically, she and Matriad (the Moonstone knight of the same group) help usher in a long-running era of peace and prosperity and are both elected, alongside Abigail Daisy, to be Captains of three distinct Matan-built voidships, The Sun, The Moon, and The Stars. While the rest of this history is filled with massive holes in documentation, you do find that a war started between The Voidships and The Surface kingdom of Matan at some point. Following a stint of peace, you also find a document reporting to the Quartermaster, Master Gunner, and Shipswain of The Moon that she received proof that Matriad had abandoned his position as Captain and is missing- all right before a massive attack. There is no documentation of Kian in this particular history following this note.
