The Sun

The Sun is a massive warship captained by Pareidolia Di’or. It is the largest voidship in all of Metrianda, having been designed by Meter Matan but built by The Council of Dragons (completed in 9399). It is governed by a monarchic system with Pareidolia Di’or and her ex-husband Maldreth Matriad being their royal family. The Sun is split into 2 levels- the overlevel where the “natural” ecosystem of The Sun exists (oceans, lakes, mountains, forests, deserts, etc) and the underlevel, a poor region of The Sun filled with people they consider to be undesirable, lacking a day and night system, clean air, and typical heroes.

The Sun has been at war with The Republic of Metrianda for 500 years, having forced The Moon into assisting in overthrowing The Council of Dragons and subsequently into committing a multitude of war crimes for The Sun’s benefit. The Sun disappeared from the collective consciousness of Metrianda when The Republic took control of the 13 towers 2 years after The Sun decimated The Council of Dragons and killed nearly every civilian, dragon, hero, and worker in The Overglass- leaving The Moon to take the blame for every action The Sun had taken. In the past year it violently thrust itself back into The War after felling both Whima and Zitaf and nearly destroying The Moon and Robasa- it is currently under siege by multiple forces after the second successful abduction of The Moon’s captain led to The Federation of Metrianda (or The Coalition) being formed- a collective of every major faction in Metrianda excluding The Sun. The Coalition exists with the primary focus of uniting Metrianda against one common enemy, The Sun, and destroying Pareidolia Di’or to usher in an era of peace.

Fascinatingly, The Sun’s leadership is mostly unknown- obviously total rule is handed out through the Queen or Captain, though the levels of command underneath her are unwritten and kept a tight secret. Furthermore, Pareidolia’s actual captainhood is highly contested as there is no evidence that the aasimar has undergone the Captainhood procedure that her predecessor- the original captain, Abigail Daisy- had. Functionally, this means that Pareidolia is not directly communicating with her ship in the traditional manner and is not considered a “true” captain by Metriandan standards, nor a typical acting Captain.
