Calendars

Matan Calender

Used by The Republic, most factions in The Underglass, and The Moon. This calendar was established by the Council of Dragons and counts up from the day of Meter Matan’s arrival on Metrianda and is separated into 2 eras: Pre-Matan and After-Matan (PM and AM). There are 400 days in a year, 12 days in a week, 9 seasons in a year, and 9 months in a year.

The year is currently 9943 AM.

Days of the Week: Vish Iloa Chau Tith Oloa Rasa Ylay Lumi Igha Voda Esta Sede | Seasons in the Year: Smoke Winter Fog Spring Rain Summer Hail Autumn Entropy | Days in a Month - Months in the Year: 50 Myphoen 45 Eelanrua 45 Titusa 50 Renuclian 45 Ilondra 35 Alashin 35 Nunphora 45 Dedreen 50 Alopadora

The Dragons, ever the organizers, slotted each season with its own month- the name of each month being derived from an Indigenous culture’s word for that season. There are 4 seasons with 5 “transfer seasons” between each one- marking 9 total seasons.

Hail - A transfer season between Entropy and Winter, hallmarked by the prevalence of hail.

Winter - Your bog-standard Traditional Winter Season.

Fog - A transfer season between Winter and Spring, hallmarked by the prevalence of fog.

Spring - Spring! Rainy, foggy, flowerful, a big muggy.

Rain - A transfer season between Spring and Summer, hallmarked by the prevalence of rain.

Summer - Hot, percentage of rain and humidity depends heavily on location.

Smoke - Smoke rises from The SubSmoke and encompasses everything in the elseworlds for 35 days of the year.

Autumn - The autumn season, it starts to get colder and the leaves begin to turn.

Entropy - The only Metrianda-wide season, both the Underglass and the Overglass experience it at the same time. Metrianda uses this month to expel extra entropy that builds up over the rest of the year. Weather changes drastically over the course of the month, on a day-day and sometimes hour-to-hour basis. You could be in a blizzard one moment and a heat wave the next. There is always at least one day for each weather type.

Under Kian’s Metrianda this month was researched to such an intense degree that they classified a distinct type of weather for each of the 50 days, as in: there are 50 options randomized throughout 50 days. Later in the month, in the last two weeks, meteorologists can more accurately predict the weather, seeing as they have less options, and they can recognize possible patterns.

Escherinian Calender

Used by Escherinian factions, and also Station GIVE. The Escherin Calendar counts up in batches of 100,000, each defined by their own era name- currently we are in the Era of the Twin Moons, marked by ES at the end of the numeral year. They use the same month, day, and season basis as the Matan Calendar seen above. In the Escherinian Calendar, each month has a second name that is used for religious and official purposes that is assigned based on a particular constellation visible through the Glass during that month only. This constellation name is also the basis for the name assigned to each zodiac in the Escherinian Zodiac- which functions like typical Earth zodiac wherein you are assigned that zodiac depending on when you are born or summoned in/to Metrianda. They have various religious and cultural purposes but, instead of personality, they are used mostly to practice divination. Particular sects of oracles, including the Mystics, use these zodiac signs to tell futures.

The year is currently 509943 ES.

Solar Calender

Used by The Sun, it currently counts up from when The Council of Dragons fell and is separated into 4 eras: ☰ (or EN - Escherin), ⚖ (or MK - Matan Kingdom), ⚙ (or DE - Dragon Empire), and ☀ (or SK - Solar Kingdom) which are used to count the years- each resetting the count to 1 after a new era is triggered. To format the year, they place the Era before the year numbers, with the exception of EN wherein it counts backwards from 1 indefinitely. The Solar Calendar is preparing to enter a new era- Pure Sun (PS) or ☼.

The Solar Calendar recognizes 9 days in a week, 200 days in a year, 3 seasons, and 6 months.

It is currently the year ☀ 1048.

Lacune Calender

Used by Lacunites and Coldbirds, the Lacune Calendar does not recognize eras and simply counts up from their founding- then backwards prior to it, with the current years being marked by a positive number and past years with a negative (ie: +9943 vs -9943).

The Lacunite calendar observes a 6 day week, 4 seasons, 10 months, and has 400 days in a year. Each month has exactly 40 days.
